Team building

A good team event gives the group energy and plenty to talk about afterwards.

Team building has earned its doubtful reputation honestly: many formats pretend that trust can be staged in two hours. A good programme takes on less. It gives the group a shared task that shows how it actually works together, and in which nobody has to perform.

Which task achieves that depends on the group. For some teams it is a sailing regatta with clearly assigned roles, for others a quieter task that gets debriefed together at the end.

How we work

It starts with the brief and the question of what this team needs right now. We design the programme to that answer; it is delivered by qualified outdoor trainers and coaches. Sailing regattas, GPS challenges, beach olympics, chain reactions, paella workshops and jeep rallies form the toolbox; the selection from it is made fresh for every group.

Frequently asked questions

Which team-building ideas actually work?
That can only be answered once you know the group. In the briefing call we therefore first establish what the programme is for; concrete activities come afterwards. What matters is that the exercise makes real dynamics visible, and whether that happens sailing or cooking is a question of tools. Success, by the way, we measure by what the team does in the week after; on request with a short debriefing two weeks later.
What group sizes does corporate team building work for?
Good work happens with 12 up to several hundred participants. Below 12 people we usually recommend a facilitated workshop instead. From around 250 the planning task shifts: it then becomes mainly about designing parallel tracks properly.
How much time should we plan for a team trip with team building?
Half a day is the minimum, and a full day adds noticeable depth. If team building is the actual purpose of the trip, two days is the right measure. Anything beyond that is, in substance, a retreat and should be planned as one.
Can you run programmes in English, German or Spanish?
Yes, in all three. Our trainers work in at least two languages, and linguistically mixed groups are routine.
What does sustainable team building mean with you in practice?
The basics apply company-wide and therefore to every programme: LifeXperiences is Travelife-certified and supports Cleanwave and 1% for the Mediterranean. For catering, that means plastic-free and built on regional produce.
